The Amazing Transformation

Thanks to Grandma Barbara's sewing talents and hard work the Scamp interior looks amazing!  She reupholstered the cushions which look absolutely fantastic and made curtains with blackout fabric.  She is finishing up one more cushion for the newly extended "wrap around" sofa.  We can't wait for our first big Scamping Adventure!

A few more interior updates....

Matt's brilliant idea to remove the toilet stall and create a pantry closet in a "dead" space has added so much to our little fiberglass trailer.

Here are pics below of Matt having fun cutting the new linoleum and some intsallation shots.  Now all of the materials are natural - felted wool upholstered cushions, cotton curtains and linoleum from linseed.  No VOCs off gassing in our little egg nest.

Black Hills here we come!

We are getting excited for our first Scamp adventure of 2011.  We've reserved our campsite at the Bluebell Campground in Custer State Park for May 27 - 31 and have just begun our planning.

Should it stay or Should it go now?

Matt has he often does, got a bee in his bonnet and voila, the toilet/enclosure has been removed from the Scamp!  After some bantering back and forth on whether or not to keep the toilet because of the convenience with 2 small children, we realized the captured space would be well worth the extra walk to the campground biffy's.

This small modification is a major improvement and we now have a wrap around sofa as well as improved views from one end of our little Scamp to the other.  Let the socializing begin!  When the rain is pouring down we will definitely be a much happier family!

The Inception

Matt's Grandma Barbara planted the seed that germinated the desire for a "fiberglass egg" this past summer.  It took less than 2 days, after searching on Craig's list and driving 2 hours north, and we quickly became the proud owners of a not so vintage, yet vintage looking, 16' pull behind Scamp travel trailer.  Matt spent a few weeks "cleaning" it up and creating a home for it behind our garage.  In the summer of 2010 we took our Scamp on 3 adventures - Alexandria, MN with Matt's Mom and Brother, Lanesboro, MN for Buffalo Bill Days and Madeline Island.

Winter of 2011 - Grandma Barbara is reupholstering our cushions with an awesome orange-y red felted wool from Kvadrat and she is sewing curtains out of a 70's feeling floral print.  We have requested samples of faux green grass for carpeting.

Now in the middle of winter we are dreaming about a trip this summer to South Dakota - the Bad Lands & Mount Rushmore....
